Commissioners of the Treasury have given their sanction to the grant made to the family of the late Inspector Francis Smithers, formerly of this Country, payment of an allowance at the rate of £20 per annum from the Revenues of Hong Kong.

With reference to my despatch of 24 Feb, I have to acquaint you that the Lords Commissioners of the Treasury have apprised me (6223) that directions have been given to Mr Baillie, the Colonial Agent, to pay to Miss Smithers the pension of £20 a year granted to her as the widow of the late Francis Smithers, Inspector of Police at Hong Kong, to commence from the 31st of August last.
